The Lenfest Institute wants to send you to a conference

A message from Cheryl Thompson-Morton at the Lenfest Institute, which is offering grants to help Philly-area journalists and journalism students of color attend a professional development conference, workshop or leadership training program (such as AAJA’s national convention, the AAJA Executive Leadership Program and AAJA Catalyst):

I wanted to share our announcement of an open call for our next round of Lenfest Next-Generation Fund. As you know, the Next-Gen Awards provide financial resources as well as training, networking and mentorship for journalists of color to attend key industry conferences of their choice. This year, we have added a “Leadership Track” that supports training and professional development activities (such as Poynter) and participation in a broader group of events throughout the year.

We are also planning to provide continued support to the alumni group of past Lenfest Next-Generation grantees including exclusive training sessions from career coaches on how to take your career to the next level. We’re also hosting office hours to answer any questions or help people with their applications.

We’ve announced the grant here: https://www.lenfestinstitute.org/diverse-growing-audiences/applications-are-now-open-for-the-2020-lenfest-next-generation-fund/. Please feel free to share with you networks and apply!

Last year, AAJA Philly members Hannah Chinn, Anh Nguyen, Aneri Pattani and Rjaa Ahmed received this award, which helped them attend the AAJA national convention. For more information, please refer to the Lenfest Institute website.
