Our chapter was involved in organizing a statement from AAJA in regards to a photo caption in the Philadelphia Public Record that used Asian slurs.

The Public Record junior employee responsible for the slurs has been fired, and the newspaper has issued an apology on its website.

Board member Stephen Jiwanmall has since joined AAJA’s MediaWatch committee to represent the chapter and to monitor further local coverage of Asian-American communities.
