AAJA-Philly’s Nov. 10 Multimedia Journalism Lunch & Learn

Want to improve your multimedia and social media skills?

Join the Philadelphia chapter of the Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA) for a day of informal talks with several journalism and media experts who will offer their words of wisdom when it comes to using social media for journalism, presenting stories online and creating great digital photographs.

Other topics of discussion will cover basic Internet and media law and working on a digital documentary outside of the newsroom.

The guest speakers are:

11 a.m. Jeremy Mishkin, attorney and partner with Montgomery, McCracken, Walker & Rhoads, LLP, on Internet rights and media law.

11:30 a.m. Melody Kramer, former WHYY associate producer for online media, on utilizing social media for journalism and online and radio reporting.

Noon. George Miller, Temple University assistant journalism professor, on multimedia reporting and photojournalism.

1 p.m. Wendy Warren, NBC Washington editorial manager of digital content and former vice president and editor of Philly.com, on presenting stories on the web and search engine optimization.

2 p.m. Hai Do, The Philadelphia Inquirer assistant managing editor for multimedia, on photojournalism, video, and presenting images on the web.

2:30 p.m. John Welsh, president of the American Society of Media Photographers, Philly chapter, on documentary-making and reporting outside of a newsroom.

When: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 10. Lunch served 12:30 to 1 p.m.

Where: Temple University, Annenberg Hall, Room 3, 2020 North 13th St., Philadelphia

Cost: Free for AAJA members (including new members who join for 2013). $10 for non-AAJA students; $15 for non-AAJA professionals. Lunch is included.
